When you visit ISIC’s headquarters in Brabrand, you’ll find Thomas Vinther and his dedicated development team. As the Head of R&D at ISIC for over six years, Thomas brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to developing innovative solutions. He presents a calm and welcoming appearance, greeting others in a friendly manner.
In his office, over a cup of coffee, Thomas passionately discusses his role at ISIC. His enthusiasm for electronics began in his childhood, and this lifelong passion drives his innovative approach to development. Thomas is responsible for leading the development team, managing projects, and ensuring that customer needs are met. An essential part of his role involves maintaining close contact with customers, along with the sales department, and collaborating with them to modify and develop products and special features tailored to their exact specifications.

Thomas has been interested in electronics ever since he was a child, when he would take apart radios and telephones to explore how they worked. This early fascination grew as he explains: “I am the son of a farmer, so I’ve always had my hands in machines, mechanics, and electronics.” By the age of ten, he had already decided to become an electronics engineer and pursue a career in this field. Now, Thomas is a highly experienced electronics engineer with a deep passion for development. He further explains this passion of his:
“What I find enjoyable about being a developer, in general, is contributing to making things better, more producible, and cost-effective. It's essentially the business of the company, and what interests me is looking into how we can improve the business with the new products we're creating.”
Thomas takes great pride in customizing and adapting our products to meet the specific needs and preferences of each customer. These customizations can involve both mechanical design, electronic system design and firmware development. Through close cooperation with our customers, Thomas and his team deliver customized solutions without compromising on quality. This is just one example of how Thomas embodies ISIC’s values. We prioritize high quality not only in our products but also in our service and communication, and Thomas consistently delivers on both fronts.

A big part of Thomas’ job involves delegating projects and leading his highly skilled team of engineers. With an extensive background in leadership, Thomas has been in a leadership role since 2004. Early in his career, he joined the military and completed a sergeant’s education, where he also led a team. Leadership comes naturally to Thomas, a quality evident even after a brief interaction with him. He is a down-to-earth individual who meets everyone at eye level and shows genuine interest in his colleagues. At ISIC, we place high priority on trust, making Thomas an excellent fit as he is known for his trustworthiness, whether dealing with customers or colleagues.
Sustainability is a key focus in Thomas’ work, aligning perfectly with ISIC’s values. His focus is on developing products with long lifespans that are durable and built to last, minimizing the need for replacements. Thomas emphasizes the importance of designing with fewer components, which not only enhances product reliability but also streamlines production, making it more efficient and sustainable.
Thomas values having all the departments and production located at the same site. He notes that this arrangement significantly enhances process efficiency and improves teamwork. Thomas works closely with especially the sales and sourcing teams, emphasizing: “The communication channel is short, which makes our workflow more efficient.” He also highlights the benefits of having production in the same building: “We receive direct feedback from the production team when issues arise. My team also develops mechanics and software for production.” This proximity allows for immediate problem-solving, ensuring a continuous workflow in the production.

Outside of work, Thomas has his hands full with his boat, camper, vacation house, three children, and two dogs. Clearly, Thomas is a very popular man, both in his professional and personal life. Despite his busy schedule, he always makes time to help and support his children and colleagues.
Overall, Thomas Vinther is a trustworthy, professional and highly experienced Head of R&D. ISIC wouldn’t be the same without him. He contributes with many innovative solutions for our customers while always bringing harmony and a positive atmosphere to the entire company.
